We challenge our children to question the world around them in order to create positive changes in their community and the wider world. Our Wild Tribe Field is one such project where children have connected with local community groups to improve the biodiversity, accessibility and purpose of this green space. The children have planted an orchard of trees which they tend to and have hatched chickens in school which they now take responsibility for rearing and caring for. They monitor how the space is being used by checking for fly tipping and conduct 'clean up' sessions to insure it is a welcoming and safe place for people and wildlife. We want to prepare children for life as global citizens and we believe that this preparation begins by taking care of and being grateful for what we have on our doorstep. We run beach cleans though our ocean school sessions and learn about caring for the environment on a broader scale. It is our aim that this will develop children's sense of citizenship and encourage them to seek out ways to become global citizens who are advocates for their world and have a deep appreciation and sense of responsibility for it.
Every child is nurtured to ensure they learn in a safe, caring environment where they can achieve their own ambitions, celebrate their own and others’ uniqueness and enjoy success.
Our vision is driven by three key Christian values;
Compassion:
We understand compassion as caring about someone else's feelings and trying our best to understand how others might be feeling, and offering to help that person. We can show that we are kind and caring by doing acts of kindness for anyone, friends, family and people we don't know.
Perseverance:
We understand perseverance as recognising that life is sometimes difficult and painful, and that it is important not to give up in the face of adversity. We learn we are capable of doing hard things and experiencing a sense of achievement due to the effort we put in, not just the outcome that we achieve.
Wisdom:
We understand wisdom as being about how we use our knowledge to make the right choices and decisions. God wants us to use our wisdom so that we can consider the consequences of our actions.
These encapsulate the three main strands within our curriculum and we strive to ensure that each termly topic includes these elements.
